Donor information

The Neurological Tissue Bank - Biobanc houses a collection of nervous tissue samples which are donated by deceased patients who may or may not have been suffering from neurological disease. This Neurological Tissue Bank - Biobanc, also known as the Brainbank, facilitates quality, state-of-the-art research into neurological and degenerative diseases.

Founded in 1989 by professors Eduardo Tolosa and Félix Francisco Cruz-Sánchez, this biobank was created to obtain and store nervous tissue from patients who died of a degenerative disease in order to provide samples to researchers in this field. Over time, the collection has grown to include many of the most significant neurological diseases affecting our society.

The Neurological Tissue Bank - Biobanc is located at the University of Barcelona School of Medicine.
